Basic Rigging for Large Animal Rescue (NC-0294)

 This seven hour training will cover basic mechanical advantage systems, natural and manmade anchor selection, glide use and basic Incident Command principals as they apply to animal rescue. The first half of the day will consist of both lecture and hands-on application in all areas. Students will be required to apply the skills learned in an afternoon exercise.

Prerequisites: 1) Participants are strongly encouraged to be familiar with the 8 Basic knots, plus a Bowline and a Clove Hitch knot. Knots and tutorials can be found at; 2) Also review the following video Rope Mechanical Advantage Systems:

All registrants will receive an email indicating that they are on a waitlist. If approved by the training coordinator, they will receive another email indicating such.


o   PPE Requirements: helmet, gloves, work boots, NO shorts

o   All participants will be required to sign 2 Release of Liability waivers, one for Holmestead Farm and one for PEART

o   LUNCH will be Subway sandwiches….cash donations requested, not required
