Event Description

NC Datasharing Workshop (NC-8910)

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology’s First Responder Emerging Technologies (FirstTech) Program is hosting a second series of workshops for the purpose of facilitating discussion and building awareness on data sharing between responders. Each of these workshops will be discipline specific following the 5 Primary Users of the First Responder Network (FirstNet). They are: EM, EMS, 9-1-1, Fire and Law. The workshops will be virtual and meeting links will be provided upon registration.

The goal of these workshops is to prepare for and enhance data sharing across the State of North Carolina. These data sharing workshops are designed to engage and leverage existing regional and interstate/inter-territory bodies to identify potential public safety broadband users and help them prepare for data sharing. The workshops will identify data sharing opportunities, gaps, best practices, and explore governance and policies that need to be established or updated across the State of North Carolina.

Participants and contributors to these workshops will include members from public safety agencies (law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical response, emergency management and 9-1-1 officials).  Additionally, we welcome the participation of individuals from organizations and agencies that regularly interact with responders, in preparation for, when responding to, and during recovery from disaster and other events affecting public safety. Typical organizations include; public works, streets and roads, transportation, education, utilities, including power generation, transmission and distribution, water and sanitation, health care and public health, telecommunications, broadcast and media, emergency broadcasting/alerting. Invited members may include line responders, data analysts, IT staff, and executive staff.

The workshop will provide a unique perspective to entities that may be called upon to support public safety during the time of an emergency or its aftermath. Attendees of the workshop should be prepared to participate as it will be a discussion-based workshop.
