Event Description

SWAMP STOMP SAR Exercise (PEN-072.a)

The 8th Annual PENSAR Swamp Stomp will simulate full scale wilderness search and rescue operations in an austere environment. The Exercise will begin on Thursday January 16th at 1800 and will reach completion on Sunday the 19th. Opportunities for exercise players will include Incident Management, Ground Search, Canine, Tracking and Air Operations (UAS).

Training:

The exercise focus will be on the progression of operations from the initial response using immediately available local assets to full scale operations utilizing regional field assets and incident management personnel. Participants in the initial ops period are expected to be able to self-sustain for the duration of that operational period (1/16 @1800 until 1/17 @ 0600).

The flow of the response will be dictated by an incident management team comprised of exercise participants. There will be opportunities for players to take positions both as IMT leads and also to shadow more experienced personnel. Participants will be able to have their IMT position task books completed upon meeting expected standards.

Opportunities for field personnel include working in roles as members of ground crews as well as in specialty areas such as canine and tracking teams. It is advised that field personnel have the equipment necessary to sustain themselves in the field and to address any eventualities utilizing what is contained in their 24 hour SAR packs.
