This course is designed to educate all parties involved in the response to an incident at a fixed nuclear facility. It will focus on planning necessary for counties considered to be in the 50 mi Ingestion Pathway Zone for one of the 12 facilities which may directly impact North Carolina in the event of a release of radionuclides from a facility. During this course attendees will cover radiation, the potential long term effects resulting from exposure and contamination, planning, preparedness, training and exercise requirements. Each County will be provided with a thumb drive which contains updated Ingestion Pathway resource documents which will be used to help develop a county IPX plan.
