Event Description

PATROL RIFLE 1 (PAM-005)

This 30 hour course focuses on the AR-15 platform to include basic maintenance, sighting systems, strong and weak hand shooting and malfunction clearing, positional shooting, multiple target engagements, shoulder and weapon transitions and team tactics utilizing a rifle.  Internal, External, and Terminal ballistics of the .223/5.56 will be covered.  Modern optics will be covered in detail as well as range estimation using the optic and the naked eye. 

Students should report to class dressed for the climate, we shoot rain or shine, hot or cold.  Students will need one semi- or full- automatic rifle and a minimum of 3 magazines for the rifle, more is better, a sturdy sling, a duty handgun with a minimum of 3 magazines and holster, and magazine pouches for each weapon.  Students will also need cleaning and lubrication equipment and any specialized tools for their particular rifle and optics.   Eye protection, ear protection, and a billed cap are mandatory at all times, we will be shooting steel.

Ammo required is 1000-1200 rounds of factory loaded rifle ammunition (NO GREEN TIP AMMO), and 200 rounds of factory loaded handgun ammunition.

This course is labor intensive, and a certain amount of physical agility and fitness will be required.
