Event Description

Triad SMAT Field Hospital Set Up (THPC SMAT FH)

The Triad State Medical Assistance Team stands ready to respond to disasters and provide a field hospital to care for the injured and sick during the time of need.

To prepare for this it is imperative that we train our staff, both medical and non-medical in setting up the western shelter tent structures.

To accomplish this task we have arraigned with the Boy Scouts of America for use of an area in Beckley West Virginia for a complete field hospital set up in a remote location. This area allows us to set up the field hospital without existing infrastructure or debris that would have to be cleared prior to set up.

This training will consist of a weekend set up starting with travel and work on Friday lasting through Sunday. Travel and meals will be included for participants. Sleeping will be inside tents on cots and participants will need to bring deployment bag with sleeping bag and hygiene kits.
