Long-Term Care Emergency Preparedness Education (MHPR0006)

Preparing your agency and engaging in community preparedness!

We invite you to participate this important initiative. 

The Metrolina Healthcare Preparedness Coalition will be hosting an emergency planning initiative for Long-Term Care agencies in the region, to include Hospice, Home Health, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, PRTFs, PACE Organizations, End-Stage Renal Disease, and Federally Qualified Health Centers. Your participation in this project is essential to improving the emergency preparedness among healthcare providers and maintaing CMS Emergency Preparedness compliance.


The ultimate purpose of the Continuing Care Emergency Planning project is to engage long term care and ancillary healthcare providers to improve collaborative regional healthcare preparedness and to provide tools and resources for improving agency preparedness.


  1. Become familiar with the different types of Emergency Operations Plans available
  2. Learn basic Emergency Management principles and how to use them in your home facility
  3. Overview of the Incident Command System
  4. Maintaining CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule compliance
  5. Lessons learned from LTC facilities during Hurricane Florence
