CMS Emergency Preparedness Workshop -- Providers with Residential Considerations (SMRS0204)

On September 8, 2016 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid released the Emergency Preparedness Rule defining Conditions of Participation and Condition for Coverages for 17 different healthcare provider types.  Providers must be compliant with these new standards by November 17, 2017 or risk losing CMS reimbursement.  This interactive workshop will educate providers on the new standards along with core guiding principles of emergency management through didactic instruction and discussion.  Participants will learn and walk through key steps of preparedness that will better prepare their organization and address the CMS standards.

  • Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities
  • PACE
  • Long Term Care
  • Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID)
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will have a greater understanding of the CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule and the impacts on their organizations.
  • Participants will understand the emergency preparedness cycle and how that will help meet the requirements put forth in the CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule.
  • Participants will be able to define key actions that need to be taken in order to gain overall compliance with the CMS Emergency Preparedness Rule and increase their organization’s overall readiness.


Students will be required to complete an online pre-assessment distributed after registration for the workshop
